One of the fastest-rising offensive line prospects on the East Coast hopes to visit South Carolina this summer. Arie Kouandjio (Hyattsville, Md./DeMatha) has nearly three dozen offers to his credit and spoke with TheBigSpur.com about the current state of his recruitment.
Notre Dame, Ohio State, California, LSU, and Michigan State are just some of the programs that have offered recently.
He recently had a conversation with his USC recruiter, running backs coach
Jay Graham, and Carolina head football coach Steve Spurrier.
"I talked to a couple of their coaches last week on the phone,” he said. “Coach Graham called me and I also talked with Coach Spurrier. It went pretty good. They let me know that they are very interested in me and that made me happy. Coach Spurrier told me how happy they are to be dealing with me. I really liked talking to him. Coach Graham is my recruiter and has been my school as well. He seems like a pretty good guy. I could see myself playing for someone like him. I can tell he cares about his players. I plan on visiting South Carolina when I go by the Carolinas. I really don’t know too much about them yet, but I really don’t know too much about any colleges yet."
Kouandjio talked about getting offers from Notre Dame, Ohio State and LSU.
Notre Dame: "It was pretty big, but I think all the offers I get are big. I am happy to know they are interested. I know they have a lot of tradition, but other than that I don’t know too much."
Ohio State: "They came during spring workouts and I sent them my highlight tape. They then called and said they liked it and wanted to offer. I know they have a lot of tradition as well."
LSU: "They offered me three weeks ago. They watched me at my school and was impressed with my highlight tape. I like that they have won two national championships in the last five years."
Kouandjio broke down what he will be looking for in a school.

“I will be looking at how well I work with the coaching staff, early playing time, and education will be important,” he said. “It’s going to be at the end of the year. I am taking official visits. I don’t have any top schools. I am just worrying about my football season coming up. I am completely open."
Kouandjio added that he doesn’t have any firm plans for unofficial visits this summer, but he plans to visit “as many schools as he can” before the summer ends. He and his teammate,
Shane Johnson, both hold USC offers and are being recruited by the Gamecocks
