Tight end/defensive end
Sherard Cadogan (Cherry Hill, N.J./Camden Catholic) has seen his offer list explode in recent weeks and the 6-foot-3, 220-pounder spoke with TheBigSpur.com about his forthcoming plans to narrow down his list, including his interest in South Carolina.
"I plan on sitting down with my parents and narrowing it down to five schools, maybe eight,” Cadogan said. “Hopefully I get it down to five and those will be my official visits. Right now I would say that Pitt, Michigan State, West Virginia, and South Carolina are some teams that will make the cut."
He talked about the Gamecocks and the relationship he has formed with his recruiter, quarterbacks coach
G.A. Mangus.
"Coach Mangus has been sending me a lot of mail and E-mail,” Cadogan said. “He really wants me to visit. South Carolina is one of the schools I am very interested in. From watching them on TV, it looks like it is crazy down there. I’ve never visited the campus but I have visited the Carolinas a bunch. I love the area down there and the weather is always good. The people are all cool. I know defensive wise they have a lot of speed and they attack. I also play tight end and I love the way they use theirs."
Cadogan has nearly 30 offers. Most recently Michigan State jumped in with a full ride. East Carolina, South Florida, Temple, Akron, Maryland, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Stanford, West Virginia, Iowa and Wisconsin are some of the others to offer in addition to the Spartans and the Gamecocks.
He has visited Penn State, Stanford, and Pitt so far this summer. He will also visit Wisconsin and Michigan State later this summer. He talked about several programs specifically.
Penn State: "They seem really interested. They talk to me a lot. I’m not really sure if they are going to offer or not. I know they are going after a lot of defensive ends right now. I really love the stadium and I know the fans are crazy for games. I really like the coaches and the campus."
Stanford: "Stanford is one of the best academic schools around. The campus was real nice and the weather is perfect there. They have good coaches and I was able to work out for them. I don’t really care about the distance from home but my mom would like for me to stay closer."
Pitt: "I love Pitt. I was able to talk with the coaches when I was there. I like that it’s in the city and there is always stuff to do. It’s also pretty close to home. It’s a football town. Everything is centered around football."
