Aramis Hillary
Rising sophomore Aramis Hillary was arrested early Thursday morning on charges of underage drinking and public drunkenness, according to public records of the Lexington County Detention Center. Hillary was arrested with his brother, CoCo Hillary, a former receiver at Appalachian State, in West Columbia.
Hillary, one of three other scholarship quarterbacks vying for the backup role behind starter Stephen Garcia, is automatically suspended from team activities due to the arrest. A public statement by the University of South Carolina or head coach Steve Spurrier has not yet been released.

A graduate of Strom Thurmond High School, Hillary was a member of the 2009 Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll. He is yet to play a snap for South Carolina after redshirting his first year in school due to a knee injury. Hillary was down on the depth chart as a redshirt freshman but is one of four players, including one walk-on, battling for the spot behind Garcia.

Both brothers were released on personal recognizance bonds before 11:00 a.m.

Hillary, redshirt freshman Andrew Clifford, freshman Connor Shaw, and walk-on junior Zac Brindise have not played a single snap for the Gamecocks.

South Carolina is on spring break this week and the team does not resume practice Tuesday, March 16 at 7:00 p.m.
